Assalamu Alaykum wrb,
I would like to know, if it's obligatory to follow a madhhab, because there were none by the time of Muhammad (saw). The madhhabs have got some significant differences at the lifestyle, which got me confused (f.e. unlike the Shafiis, Hanafis aren't allowed to eat most submarine animals).
