Dua to begin fasting:
Transliteration: Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan
Translation: "I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan."
This dua is to be said after finishing suhoor (pre fast meal) at the time of Fajr prayer.
Dua to break the fast:
Transliteration: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa alayka tawakkaltu wa ala rizq-ika-aftartu.
Translation: "O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I put my trust in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance."
This dua is to be said before breaking your fast at iftar time (post fasting meal), when Maghrib prayer begins.
Remember, this is the best time to make dua, give up old habits, develop good habits, and be forgiven. This is the month were good deeds are multiplied at an incredible rate, so spend your time doing good deeds so they stack up. May Allah SWT accept from us this month of fasting, and forgive us and make us among the inhabitants of Jannat al-Firdaus. Ameen!
