Do my actions even count?

Salam,

I just had a question if you do things so Allah rewards you for it is that bad? Does that work against you intentions wise?

Or if you pray because you want something from Allah, does that defeat the purpose of praying? Or if you ask Allah for things?

I pray and do dikhr and don't engage haram because I'm not supposed to because of our faith. I feel like there is more to it.

I wonder if my intentions are wrong? Aren't we supposed to do things for the sake of Allah?

If I am doing x, y and z because I want help or am in need of something that Allah can give me - is that wrong?

Please let me know.
