I don’t understand mazhabs. If someone could clarify me. Why follow mazhabs when we can follow Quran and Sunnah directly?
Now anything intoxicant is haram directly from the Quran how come Hanafis allow? I know they were prominent Imams and may the Almighty give them Jannatul Firdous but the Hadith compiled by Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi etc isn’t sufficient? I don’t see Quran or our beloved Prophet (SA) ask us follow the great imam even if they allow intoxicant.
Personally I believe we take the good ones from the Imams and learn our religion better and ignore the bad or directly refer to the Quran and Sunnah. Please somebody shed some light! Preferably somebody who knows religion better a Imam or scholar in this sub.
I got this question after reading this in another subreddit:
translation: Nabīdh (Arabic: نبيذ [naˈbiːð]) is a drink traditionally made from raisins/grapes or dates steeped in water. Nabidh is non-intoxicating, but if left to steep over 96 hours, it can turn mildly intoxicating, or heavily intoxicating depending on the level of fermentation. The only school to allow it were the Hanafis

Not a scholar, please someone improve upon my answer.
But the basic idea is, we as laymen cannot interpret and read the entire Quran AND Hadeeth collection in our lives. Most of us have our own jobs we need to do or schools we need to go to.
We cannot interpret ourselves because we are not qualified, also it is in a sense to say that you know better than these scholars who literally spent their entire life to try and interpret what the prophet meant when he said X, Y or Z.
And we also cannot choose to follow Hanafi for one rule and Malaki for another rule and Hanbali for another rule to fit our needs. Because they each used their own consistent methods to try to find out what the prophet originally meant. So this is why we should follow the Fiqh of one particular madhab. We aren't scholars who should make these decisions. We should humble ourselves before these scholars who know better than us on these topics.
I questioned:
I totally accept that we don’t know the religion compared to someone who spent their life in it. But my point is at the end of the day they all followed our Prophet Mohammed (SA) right? The one perfect man that we all are suppose to follow. In Hadith there are narrations which simple man/woman can understand. And the one we don’t understand we can refer back to the biggest scholars to date and whichever makes sense should be follow because 4 imams are interpreting the one perfect man’s action (SA) and according to Sunnah we should only follow our Prophet Mohammed (SA). For me I’m not seeing any logic here may Allah give me some knowledge to understand but following Mazhabs makes it kinda difficult for me when Allah clearly said something like make religion easy and give glad tidings.
JazakAllah Khair for your answer.
