I don't know if it's the whole lockdown situation that is making me more irritated about petty matters, but this actually ruined my day. Today, we had a conference call for work and Muslim employees were singled out by our Muslim boss on instructions on what will happen during Eid. Every Muslim employee's name was called aside from mine.
I also had Muslims (mostly Arabs) tell me since I was young that I don't look very "Muslim" and that I look Hindu (I'm Bengali). I even had a Muslim colleague tell me the same thing recently even though I have a beard. Although I tell some of my Muslim colleagues that I am a Bangladeshi, these same people keep on forgetting where I'm from and mistake me for a Sri Lankan Muslim. Sometimes I feel that Bangladeshis are very underrepresented and disrespected in the Muslim community.
Anybody knows any tricks to not let this type of issue get to you?
