I honestly see nothing but misery and bad choices stacking up if I were to lead a life with no direction nor purpose except trying to get pleasure from every moment of it.
There are so many pits of filth, so many traps of momentary happiness that turn a man into a husk of his former self in the "modern" world, and do you know what the scariest part is? It's how easy to get into them; that just how accessible they've become. Between alcohol and gambling to drugs and zina, I honestly can see myself slowly drowning in an ocean of evil and filth without a single care for tomorrow, only trying to make best of now and now only.
Perhaps this is why one of my favorite ayats in Qur'an is 93:7
"And He found you lost and guided [you],"
I thank Allah for putting both the love of Him and fear of Him. May Allah guide us all to the right path.
