Salaamu alaikum brothers and sisters,
I am writing with a question about evil -- specifically, people who are violent and unrepentant criminals. I have read that the shayateen can appear in human form (also as some animals ie snakes). Is it possible that some of the exceptionally evil people are actually shayateen? I'm not talking about people who commit crimes (even truly horrible crimes like murder) but then repent and find Allah. I am talking about the exceptionally brutal -- those who are serial murderers and brutalize people and never, ever repent. People who enjoy torturing others. I'm talking about people in the most violent 1% of psychopaths. Before finding Islam I was born into Christianity, which teaches that everyone can be redeemed, but I don't know if that's true. I believe that some people (or perhaps they are not people, but shayateen appearing as people) are so evil that there is no good in them and there never will be. Am I wrong for thinking this? What does the Qur'an say about this? Please forgive my ignorance and thank you in advance.
