Salam malaykum, friends. During my travels I was fortunate enough to acquire a Koran and I've had it on my bookshelf since then. Sadly, my wife's elderly cat decided that he wanted to pee on my shelf tonight, which covered many of the books and caused urine to soak into the pages, rendering it unusable.
Now, I've done some research as to what I should do to dispose of it in a respectful manner. I don't have the means to burn or bury it, so what other options do I have? Tossing into the refuse feels wrong, even if it is covered in urine.
Thank you for your help. I'm saddened by its loss as it had sentimental value to me but at the very least it serves as a reminder that nothing is permanent.
