DISCLAIMER: Please advice in a respectful manner.

Nowadays, Muslims are sinning openly, they share it on social media and some Muslims always come out and say: let them be, their faith - their practice, it's between them and Allah. Just like that, you can't even say anything anymore to prevent the spread of fitnah. This is a major problem and is a reason for the state of the Ummah today. Don't worry about non-muslims and their sins, we need to fix ourselves first.

Why is this a problem? Let's read this beautiful analogy by our Prophet (pbuh).

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The example of the person abiding by Allah's order and restrictions in comparison to those who violate them is like the example of those persons who drew lots for their seats in a boat. Some of them got seats in the upper part, and the others in the lower. When the latter needed water, they had to go up to bring water (and that troubled the others), so they said, 'Let us make a hole in our share of the ship (and get water) saving those who are above us from troubling them. So, if the people in the upper part left the others do what they had suggested, all the people of the ship would be destroyed, but if they prevented them, both parties would be safe."

This is the issue, sins by muslims are a reason for more punishment and tests for mankind. And these tests and punishments are often non-discriminatory, muslims, non-muslims, sinners and the pious are all affected. Many verses and hadith expand on this concept, I just want to keep this brief.

First of all, we need to stop being selfish and start looking at the bigger picture. Implement change in your life starting today. Make tawbah, no one can guarantee their future. Why is it that we don't care about our brothers and sisters in Syria, Palestine, China etc? You think they are going through such difficult times because of their own actions? No. It is due to the actions of the Ummah. Muslims always ask or say, How can I help those in Syria? I wish I could help them etc. Well you can, start repenting, stop indulging in haram, stop being proud of sinning, stop exposing your sins to the public. The issue is that we think we are safe, we are arrogant enough to think it won't happen to us, so we are happy to continue as we are. This false sense of security has made us blind.

Secondly, people need to be advised. Stop with the my Islam, your Islam nonsense. This is the behaviour of a guilty person who wants to stay ignorant. If someone advices you in a respectful manner, listen and try to make a change. Sorry, but just because only Allah knows what's in your heart, doesn't give you a right to commit sin. Take responsibility and become a better person. It's so simple but we all struggle with this.

We all think fondly of the days of the Caliphate with the unified Ummah and wish for us to be unified as well but no one wants to change. If only every Muslim took responsibility, the Ummah wouldn't be as weak and divided as it it today.
