What is the Arabic word for the community/culture of sin?

I am studying Islam in school, and I remember reading something that resonated with me. The term was mentioned and used a lot by some Muslim scholars & clerics, but also some revolutionaries. The context was that the word represents sinful culture, like referring to western culture, mostly. The culture of non-belief, no morals, overt sexualization of people, degeneracy. I believe there is than an opposing word for it, like a godly culture or Islamic society.
