Is there a consensus on whether machine slaughter is halal or not? It's easy enough to pick one over the other at the grocery story, but a lot of restaurants that are marked halal (at least the majority where I live) use machine slaughtered meat, so idk if it's okay to eat from them. I could go for beef or something, but the main problem is cross-contamination (i.e. same knives, cooking surfaces used for machine slaughtered poulty, and hand slaughtered beef).
And is everyone who lives in countries like Saudi Arabia just basically okay with machine-slaughtered poultry, since that's what most of the chicken is? And what do people eat when going on Hajj or umrah?
