I'm just curious about this. A marriage between muslims is only valid through a nikkah. I could go get a marriage certificate but islamically its not valid until I go through the nikkah ceremony and would be considered fornication if I proceed without a nikkah.
That being said, how does Islam view non muslims who are married by law (and by their religion maybe) but obviously not islamically. They're not muslims so they haven't done the nikkah so in the eyes of islam, are thye a valid married couple or are they technically "fornicating".
