I'm a 17M muslim who has been studying the religion more and more, so far it has been fun and interesting.
One topic i researched a bit is homosexuality, from what i found that in iran and iraq death penalties are the common response, but since i'm sunni and these countries are mostly shia i looked through the quran and hadith.
For a starter i didn't find one line about what action should be taken against a homosexual, which raised the question is homosexuality even haram? I mean in quran we hear the story of lut's people we know they were known for homosexual acts but we know that Allah didn't just punish them simply because of homosexuality it was for other various sins.
From what i read on web sites which are probably not credible but they say that it was scholars determining that it was prohibited, if you have anything from trusted hadith, quran or said scholar studies please let me know i want to know clearly what sunni islam says about homoeexuality.
