Salam
In Canada am trying to reconcile our national liberal sentiment with the international persecution of Muslim peoples in places like Burma China and India. Liberalism being a cosmopolitan human set of beliefs shouldn't take any regard for religion in the actions it takes but I wonder if in an alternate reality where it is Christians that are persecuted instead of Muslims, how much different the response of the West would be?
While writing this I realize the 'liberal world' is not cohesively 'liberal' as there are illiberal elements to it as well, look at America currently...which could explain this contradiction, but I am still troubled by it.
