I always feel really sad when I see so many Muslims being just cultural Muslims or Muslims by name only. Like when they openly drink or date or get married to non-Muslims. I don't want to sound like one of those ultra Conservative Trump Supporters type who go on about "traditions" but at the same time I really can't accept how liberals look down on anything they don't consider right as being backwards.
Why can't we Muslims be proud of our religion and heritage? Why do we have to carry this baggage of colonised shame and consider ourselves inferior that we keep trying to imitate the ways of the colonisers? Especially when Islamic teaches us exactly the opposite! Muslims should be better than this.
Anyway I just keep these things to myself and only occasionally voice an opinion here because it appears in the modern world even voicing your opinion (let alone acting to stop it) against something that goes against what the liberals believe is the way forward will get you shunned and ridiculed. So you end up toeing the party line saying yes you agree people should have the feedom to live whatever lives they chose to live no matter how unislamic it is (when they're Muslims). And you know what I probably agree with it. Whom am I to judge someone if they call themselves Muslims then go ahead and drink alcohol openly or have a bf/gf or live a totally unislamic life where u can never say they're Muslim until they tell u their name. Like it's absolutely none of my business. It just makes me sad but I guess soon I'll even get shunned and ridiculed for feeling sad about the state of our ummah because that's not progressive and be at risk of being labelled a right wing nut job by the Liberal left.
