Hello everyone. I was hoping you could give me some advice and guidance.
Unfortunately a childhood friend of mine has died. There will be a burial conducted and a ceremony at a Mosque. I am not religious and I have never attended a ceremony like this in a Mosque (nor have I ever seen a Mosque), but it was passed on that we should keep in mind that this is an Islamic ceremony and we should dress accordingly.
He was a member of a uniformed public service, and as a result there will be many men and women there in ceremonial uniform dress, representing their respective services.
I too work for a different service and I have the option of going in my 'on duty' uniform (I don't have a ceremonial one) which just feels wrong as my complete uniform includes boots, cargo pants, and a ballistic vest/duty belt.
I was hoping to avoid wearing this but I'm unsure as to what would be acceptable to wear otherwise.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for your help and have a great day/night!
