Salam sisters and brothers.

Firstly i dont want to appear judgemental towards this brother. I have a lot I can work on of course and ask Allah to guide me to the best muslim I can be.

I have a good friend and roommate who is a Muslim. He has a strong belief in Allah swt he prays 2-3x a day, donates graciously and goes hard for Ramadan alhamdulilah. However, he partakes in sins such as adultery and drinking the other 11 months of the year.

I always invite him to pray with me and he usually does join. Whenever he is feeling guilty about a particular action and starts saying how he knows he is going to go to jahanam/hell, he wil come talk to me. I ask him if he is ready to give up that action (usually drinking) and I will help him and overtime he can cut it out. But he is unwilling to do so, he enjoys that way of life to much. Our convos usually end with me telling him to sincerely repent and that Allah swt is the most merciful so never lose faith.

When I do this I feel guilty for not trying harder and pushing him more. For example I just recently stopped inviting him to Friday prayer with me after 1.5 years of him declining and always having an excuse. I could tell it became an awkward thing for me to do every week knowing he is going to decline.

My question is as a Muslim what my rights are to this brother. Should I try harder, just continue what I am doing, or maybe step back. My second question is what I will be questioned about by Allah swt on the day of judgement.
