Hey there. To set a background, I was born and raised traditionally Muslim but as of the last few years as I entered high school and now college, I've been exposed to a lot of different viewpoints and I am struggling to hold onto my faith.
While I have been doing a lot of research and have managed to clarify a lot of issues I have had with my personal faith, one issue that has been really bugging me about Islam that has been making it difficult for me to be steadfast in my religion is that the Prophet (SAW) married Ayesha when she was a child, and I read a source that said he consummated his marriage with her when she was 9!
Now, I was just barelyyyyy managing to deal with the fact that he married her. I'm not trying to speak ill of the Prophet (SAW) at all, but I don't know if this fact is false, or just uncontextualized, but I don't really know how to cope with this concept. It's an idea that's been plaguing me and making me question my entire belief system!
Please, if anyone has any justification for this or any explanation/help, I am accepting all answers. I'm not specifically asking for a scholarly perspective, just the opinion of the community, but if you are a scholar please do give your feedback too.
