My Grandfather has become senile and has dementia. My uncle joked by saying, 'If I ever end up like this I want you to take me out back and shoot me'. Obviously he was joking, but it got me wondering about what Islam says about mercy killings.
Not about this case, with a senile grandpa. Just in general. In what cases, if any, would it be permissible?
