Hi all,

I (non-Muslim) have a few questions about how Muslims get to Jannah.

This website says that if you say Laa ilaha ill-Allah then you will go to Jannah. It also says "This exhortation is prescribed even if the dying person is a kaafir, because if he says it before the soul is taken, saying it will benefit him, even if he is punished for his sins."

Does this mean, that you are technically allowed to commit any type of sin throughout your life, as much as you want, but at the end of your life, if you utter these words, then you will go to Paradise? If so, why? Because many Muslims are very very devout, I would have assumed that you have to actually put effort throughout your life rather than having an 'easy way out' by simply saying those words before death and going to Jannah.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks.
