Just a thought I had today, someone please inform me if I'm wrong about anything, and may Allah forgive me for any mistakes or false assumptions.
Many Christians report experiencing supernatural occurrences, such as visions of Jesus or Mary, in dreams and in wakefulness. Similarly, pagans claim visitations from their deities. However, no religious or educated Muslim ever reports visions of the prophet ﷺ. The prophet said that jinn cannot imitate his form. This is a big claim as we know the jinn can take many forms, even of humans, and presumably of previous prophets. So for there to be so few Muslim experiences of Muhammadan visitations is consistent with the prophet's claim, and a source for doubt over the authenticity of Christian/pagan experiences.
