Perhaps it’s due to cultural differences and upbringing, but honestly, I believe that many devout Christians put our Ummah to shame.
While we spend only 5-10 minutes praying and then sin as soon as prayers are over, (slandering, driving a wedge between husbands and wives, gossiping, lying, treating others poorly, black magic, being hateful and reactive instead of communicating like adults.) I feel like many devout Christians (not cultural) try to stick to what their scripture states with regards to treatment of others and overall having a pleasant and kind demeanor.
We as an Ummah are judgmental and abrasive. I can’t tell you how many times sisters have called me awful names, have slandered me with no basis, tried to make me look bad, and one has even said that I shouldn’t claim to be Muslim just because I don’t wear hijab (I started practicing in my early twenties, although was born in a Muslim family.), and when I’ve tried my make friends with my fellow sisters, they act like they are better than me and question why I don’t wear hijab. (Or pretend to be my friend.)
And honestly? I feel like if most devout Christians became Muslim in an instant, they’d do a far better job at fulfilling not only the bare minimum as believers, but demonstrate true Islamic akhlaq in accordance to what Islam prescribes to be with the people. It seems like a good chunk of our Ummah forget that we pray, fast, read Quran, dress modestly, smile—we do in order to remind ourselves to treat others with respect and kindness.
