If one commits any of the major sins, but repents afterwards, will he still get punishment from the sharia court?

So, lets imagine a man committed zina. He repented to Allah afterwards and was sincere. However he was caught doing the sin.

So when he is summoned to the sharia court, and tells them of his repentance. Will they not carry out the punishment? (Stoning)
