What do you think should be done to reduce homophobia/transphobia among Muslims?

Clarification

Since my last post was locked, I feel I should start with a clarification.

I know that homosexuality is a sin in Islam, and some Hadiths even suggest a hadd punishment for homosexual acts. But I'm not interested in talking about that.

You can consider something to be sinful, yet not hate the person committing the sin. "Hate the sin, not the sinner."

I know many Muslims and Christians who do consider homosexual acts to be a sin, but do not hate or discriminate against LGBTQ people. And that's how it should be.

But a 2016 survey found out that 52% of British Muslims in poll think homosexuality should be illegal in Britain.

Now, in an Islamic state (or in a Muslim-majority nation) Muslims are free to have laws based on Sharia (whether it's justified or not is an entirely different issue); but there are people who want to force their religious beliefs on others, and want criminalise homosexuality (which is certainly homophobic).

In 2019, In a survey of American Muslims, 0% identified as lesbian or gay. This is statistically impossible. And it is clear that LGBT Muslims in America are reluctant to come out of the closet, because they fear the judgement of their friends and family; which is an evidence of the fact that most Muslims still hold prejudiced views, even though a Pew study found in 2017 that 52% of Muslim Americans believed that homosexuality should be accepted by society.

In some parts of Middle East and Africa, where they have issues of Law and Order; LGBT people are even murdered.

Islamically speaking, Muslims should support Muslims who experience same-sex attraction or an incongruence in their gender identity; by "showing them the right path" without forcing those beliefs on them. (And be tolerant to them even if they leave Islam and/or embrace their queer identity.)

But most Muslims continue to be hostile to LGBT people (although, usually not in a violent way).

So my question is; what should be done to encourage tolerance for the LGBT community among Muslims?

Btw, "homophobia" and "transphobia" don't refer to literal phobias or "fear" :
