So alhamdulillah we've made it to Dhul-Hijja, and as you may or may not know today is the first day of month where the greater pilgrimage (Hajj) is offered by millions of muslims from around the world. And much like the last 10 nights of Ramadan, where the rewards are amplified immensely for us, the first ten days of Dhul-Hijja are also blessed and the rewards for what we do are also amplified greatly. And like Laylatul-Qadr in Ramadan, we have the day of 'Arafah (which is the 9th day of Dhul-Hijja, the day before Eid), where if you were to fast on that day (and in fasting any of these days is great reward), all you minor* sins of the previous year and the following year are to be forgiven! I'll list some hadith below that can insha'Allah motivate us to strive to do as many good deeds as we can, and try to always be a state of dhikr:

The Prophet peace be upon him said, "There is no deed that is better in the sight of Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of Al-Adha”. It was asked, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” The Prophet (PBUH) replied, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for Jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari

The Prophet peace be up on him said: “Anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Hell) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

The Prophet peace be up on him, used to fast on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijja and he said: “Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah (ninth Dhul-Hijja) is an expiation for (all the sins of) the previous year and expiation for (all the sins of) the coming year.” (Muslim)

Stated in a hadith qudsi: "Allaah says: ‘All the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except for fasting, which is for Me and I am the One Who will reward him for it.’" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 1805).

The Prophet peace be up on him, said: “There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Alhamdu Lillaah).” (Ahmad -Saheeh)

“Whoever says:

There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the sovereignty, and His the praise, and He has power over everything

100 times a day will have a reward equivalent to the reward for freeing 10 slaves. Also, 100 deeds will be recorded for him & 100 bad deeds of his will be wiped off, & it will be a safeguard for him from Satan that day until evening, & no one will be better in deeds than such a person except he who does more than that.” [Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Nasa’i and Ibn Majah]

And also try to fast and read as much Qur’an as you can. It has also been narrated to me by a peer who studied in Tarim in Yemen, that if one reads surah al-Iqlas 1000x the day of ‘Arafah, then make dua in between Asr and Maghrib, the dua made in that time frame is mustajaab (guaranteed to be answered from Allah). He has received personal testimonies that this works, and insha’Allah I intend to do this as well.

If anyone wishes to comment any more advice, hadith, informatiom, etc. please feel free to comment so we can all benefit insha'Allah.

Salamu'alaykum, and insha'Allah we'll all achieve great heights in these 10 days
