Abu Qatadah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reported: The Messenger of ALLAH (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of 'Arafah. He said, "It is an expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year." [Muslim].
