Title a little misleading, here's the situation. I remember reading a hadith saying that Allah (swt) distances himself from those who distance themselves from their family. This is the basis of my problem.
6 months ago I moved to a new city with my brother. We had lots of plans, but I'm realizing we're just not the most compatible people. Love the guy, but working with him is difficult due to different priorities, experiences (I'm 21 he's 19, for the record) and so on.
I've casually floated the idea of us splitting up and doing our own thing, but supporting each other, staying in touch and just generally hanging out. He made it clear he was very much against the idea, and that if I went through with it, I should just take my stuff and not expect anything from him again.
My question then, is if I decided to leave and do my own thing, would that be considered distancing myself from my family, even if I attempted to mend the relationship regularly?
