Has it ever been accepted that there can be same sex marriage? What are the opinions on modern people who seek to legitimise this?

There is no legal precedent in Islamic Fiqh for same-sex marriage. Muslims who experience same-sex attraction are advised not to act on these impulses and desires. These feelings in themselves are not sinful, but acting them out is sinful. All sexual activities outside of a valid Islamic marriage, including anal sex and oral sex, are forbidden whether the person is heterosexual or not. At the same time, it is important for us to appreciate that many well-meaning people struggle with these feelings and that wholesale condemnation of them is not warranted. Allah knows best.

the haram sexual activities are being promoted in cartoons, TV, politics, and in every aspect of western culture, what's the duty of a Muslim in this scenario? Must he stand up for the truth in the best manner possible? I'm personally afraid of these ideologies invading my household.

I’m still trying to figure out the best approach, but I do not suggest direct confrontation with the proponents of these radical far-left-wing ideologies. They have immense power, corporate wealth, and social media influence, and they are willing to use their power to harm whoever challenges their views on sexuality. Exposing oneself to that abuse unnecessarily is not wise. Rather, we need to protect our children and communities from these ideas by grounding them in the teachings of Islam, while being mindful of the risks. May Allah guide us. Allah knows best.
