Also, since the vast majority of us come from an immigrant background we could share that to give perspective.

I am a Muslim from Kyrgyzstan (though my father is Afghan) and moved here in 2005 to London. We have one central mosque and overall the Muslim community is very tight in this city and involved in many things. I personally feel like Islam in Canada is very well. There is a very diverse background of origin for Muslims in our country and you can find people with varying beliefs everywhere.

I feel like we have multiple parties that can represent us well too, unlike in the United States where lots of Muslims are politically apathetic because they feel like neither Democrats nor Republicans represent their beliefs, Muslims are well-represented in the Canadian House of Commons, and politics overall. In my city, London, tons of Muslims run for city council and two are currently elected in it. Also, Calgary has the first Muslim mayor of a North American city.

In 2006 and 2011, we elected four Muslim MPs to the House of Commons, and in 2015 we then elected eleven! This came from both the Liberal and Conservative parties.

I really do think that Canada is the best Western country to be a Muslim in, with the current exception of Québec, there are just really little issues here that Muslims have, Islamophobia is very low and when it does happen, like in the Québec City mosque shooting, everyone bands together.
