I had asked a question on slavery a few days ago. I realized that r/islam seems like a platform where informed, educated Muslims can have a civil discussion. Today's question is regarding evolution. According to Islam, evolution is not real. It doesn't even concern itself with evolution since it claims god made everything. All the evidence we have not only supports evolution, but confirms it. My question is this: How does an intellectual Muslim (one who does not resort to mental gymnastics) defend Islam's stance on evolution? Please, i would like this to be a civil discussion. I am not a troll. I am a doctor and scientific answers would be appreciated. Please note: science is not a religion. Science is a way of explaining, predicting and understanding natural phenomena through observation, empirical evidence and experimentation.
