Hello,
French scholar Jean Paul Sartre said that when you are confronted with hostility for who you are it is a mistake to hide who you are, to concede to the tastes of bigots. Instead you should stress your authenticity, be more visible about who you are and demand the world accept that you will not back down.
I feel like the last few years an increasing number of women are wearing Islamic head dress, is part of that about showing strength and sincerity and being Proud in who you are?
To the Muslims members of this Reddit do you do things to assert yourself as a visible Muslim? If so how often? In what ways? How does it go for you?
I am a queer hee and I will wear Pride pins when I feel like I am somewhere that will be accepting. I don't wear a skull cap anymore because I feel like that will threaten other students at the college I go to or in other places who are Muslim.
Anyway curious to know your experiences.
