Hi all I am a half Irish (catholic) & half Asian (Muslim) therefore I have had quite a diverse upbringing.

Growing up, father wasn’t the best Muslim (drank often and smokes daily), whereas my mother initially adopted the ideals of a Muslim woman before rebelling in her late thirties... she now identified as catholic.

As a child, my father forced me to read the Quran and attend a mosque on Fridays... knowing full well that I don’t do religion. He would get angry and start lashing out at the slightest indication of rejection of the faith from me (and still does to this day, although he knows I drink and have a fiance... ).

Fast forward a decade, I’m the owner of a home and am engaged to the most incredible woman who is a non-practicing Christian - someone both my parents love. Recently however, my dad only agreed to us marrying if we did a nikaah first... kinda blackmailing me, but ok. Now he’s demanding that we get the nikaah done first otherwise he won’t come to our wedding...

Religion does nothing for me, but as a non-Muslim woman will my fiancé even be allowed to do this? What are the implications? Any advice here is greatly appreciated.
