According to the verse An-Nisa, 34 , a husband is allowed to hit his wife if she transgressed over certain limits. My question is what are these limits, because if it's up for the interpretation of the husband, he can just hit her if she did anything he thinks is wrong, while she has absolutely no say or right if the roles were switched. I do understand that there is wisdom in this religion in general, but I can't see any so far with this rule. A wife that only understands with beating is the equivalent of a 4 yo who doesn't listen to you because he doesn't have any capacity to reason yet.
