Is a person who is muslim and spends all his life committing sins and knows they’re a sin, and wants to commit suicide but doesn’t out of fear of the after life; is better or the one who commits suicide out of fear of becoming worse due to feeling utterly hopeless.

Another question that’s been on my mind is the punishment of Allah. I understand that Allah is God, He is merciful and can do whatever He wishes. He revealed to the Prophet on what actions to take, one of them is to not force the prisoner of war to convert, not deny them food & water: “And they feed from what they love for themselves the indigent, the orphan, and the prisoner of war, saying: ‘We feed you for the sake of Allah. No reward do we desire from you nor thanks.” [Sûrah al-Insân: 8-9]
It mentions to “Feed from what they love for themselves”. Then I hear of the punishment of hell and what is fed there I wonder what of the hospitality required by a human, if a human shows that mercy then why is Allah punishing so severely. Why is the fire made worse? The food so awful being in this world the fire is enough to torture a human I don’t understand the intensity being raised to such extent?
