Salam brothers and sisters.

So I just recently was thinking about becoming a vegetarian. This is due to learning more about climate change and greenhouse gas emissions as I found out that some 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions are coming from the raising of livestock for meat, milk and eggs. I know it sounds crazy for me to do it just to try and help, but I truly think that every small step can help make a difference you know?

Now the problem is some 6 years ago my older sister became vegetarian and my mom didn’t like it because she said my sister was making something haram that Allah had made halal for us. I don’t think it’s necessarily true because my sister became vegetarian after researching about factory farms and their terrible treatment of farm animals.

My question is, is it wrong for me to become vegetarian? I’m not doing it in an attempt to go against what Allah has permitted for us and I surely don’t have any intention to go against what Allah has said. So if you guys have any Hadith or Quran ayats or just any insight on this please let me know.

Also one last question sort of unrelated, but I work in fast food where there is (non zibah) meat, which we sell in our food. Is it haram for me to be working there and selling haram food?

Thank you guys for taking some time to read this
