Alot of cultures have different perceptions of Nazr & while in no way it is a lie due to its significance in the time of the Prophet, I do have a few questions:

1) Alot of Muslims lie using Nazr as a justification. Now considering Lying is a major sin unless done incase of taqiyaah, this is still a sin. So why do people still do this and encourage this? I do understand that some people are overly inquisitive about your affairs but why don't we teach kids to be good at changing the topic instead of lying?

2) Again with all due respect to the significance of Nazr I see alot of families hide certain achievements or goals to avoid the evil eye. Now with this in mind, if Nazr was actually so potent, then all rich & wealthy people that we see around us with beautiful cars, houses, possessions and spouses would actually end up being sick and lose them. The fact that this isn't happening to them must have a reason behind it and this is the reason that I am looking for inorder to reduce if not stop the fear of Nazr in alot of middle class families.

Looking forward to your input.
