Growing up in a non Muslim country makes it pretty easy to lose haya... I'm trying to figure out how to get myself away from explicit forms of entertainment like music and movies/TV. I listen to pakistani and Indian music a lot more now though I want to quit music too. I don't do social media that much but I like tumblr and anyone who's been on their knows how easy it is for bad content to sneak up on you lol. I got a book about Mata Hari but realized it probably had nsfw content in it RIP. I even tried pakistani dramas but those were just wack lol. I'm looking for advice on how to pass my free time without sinning. Any book, podcast, TV, and movie recommendations help too!

Some Muslim friendly / wholesome entertainment recommendations of my own:

  • The orbiting human circus (of the air) - podcast. It's a story podcast. It's really cute and has dreamlike feel to it. I listened to it a year ago and there wasn't anything nsfw, from what I remember
  • Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan - show It's a pakistani drama and literally the only one that's genuinely good. It's on YouTube but doesn't have English subs :( it's about fake religious people and surviving hardship.
  • The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge - book. It's a comedy/fantasy book about an elf spying on a goblin and doesn't realise the goblin is also spying on him. Funny, might not be everyone's thing. I haven't finished it yet but its cool so far.
