I'll try my best at explaining what I mean here. I'm a revert Muslim and I performed Umrah a few months ago. One dua I did at Umrah and consistently perform now is for Allah to grant me good company with my friends and to make us all better company for one another.
Since then, I've become very good friends with someone who is very knowledgeable about Islam but not particularly religious. I clicked very quickly with this person, and we hang out frequently. Sometimes, he seems to express (either real or jokingly) doubts in Islam and he may have taken up drinking, though I'm not sure.
But since Umrah, we've only gotten closer. And I'm wondering if Allah pairs people up as friends like this for a reason. What are your all's thoughts? I have begun doing frequent duas for him as well, that he be guided, forgiven, shown mercy, and all of that.
