I just finished getting certification in CPR, AED, and first aid because I thought it could be useful someday. In the class they made a big deal about fighting hesitation if someone needs help. In Canada, we have laws that protect would-be rescuers from lawsuits after the incident but he mentioned that's not the case in all countries. This got me wondering about really socially conservative societies.

If someone's heart stops beating and they're not breathing, if someone starts CPR until first responders arrive, their survival chance goes up. If the person uses an AED (it's like a defibrillator), their survival chance goes up like 70% because it restarts the heart. However, you must remove the upper torso clothing and even bras. You can try to get others to help with privacy but he said in his experience, crowds can't help but gather in a crisis.

What I want to know is A) What are laws/protocols like in Islamic countries when it comes to saving someone who is dying like this in public. B) Would you personally want a stranger who is CPR trained to give you chest compressions, mouth to mouth, and if available, use an AED to restart your heart? Does the gender of the rescuer matter?
