I have a child that was moved into my class because the class she was placed in had a male teacher. She is 8-10 years old. I want to understand the issue behind her having a male teacher so that I am not ignorant to her beliefs. We are a government funded public school in Australia with 10% male staff and this has never been brought up by her family until this year. Also, she cannot have photo's taken for religious reasons and I would also like to understand this so that I can help her when she is being excluded from class photo's and recorded activities. I have never had a child in my care whose family has upheld such strict beliefs and I want to be mindful.
