Hey everyone. I was looking for advice and guidance. I'm named Abdula (عبد الله). The thing is, since childhood, I've felt really awkward about my name. It was too long, unusual and foreign sounding to me. Growing up, I've come to resent it passionately. It's long, unnecessarily over religions for a person who is practising but not as religious.
I get treated separately, as non-Muslims find the name interesting, and Muslims like cab drivers or delivery drivers like to talk about Islam or my background. It makes me depressed that my name has caused this, and I wish my name was better.
Personally, the internal feelings are that it was an abysmal choice of a name. I am keen on changing it at my first opportunity, but does anyone here have any guidance on this resentment since childhood towards this name? I'm honestly speaking about feelings here.
