So I'm reading on here that hijab is mandatory in the sense that it's an obligation. that seems to be the consensus. what I"m confused about is the Islamic State's role in enforcing this. Some people say there is no compulsion in religion and others say it's the state's prerogative to enforce decency and the like. Is this because of the different schools of jurisprudence? Which answer is the right one?
