My older brother has converted to Islam a few years ago, and recently met a girl in an Islamic country, got married and is soon moving back to our home country. I support everything he does as he’s a very intelligent man and I know he loves her. However, I can honestly say I am a bit worried for how this will all play out. Before he was married, he wasn’t very open about being a Muslim so he never spoke of it to me. Now he is open about it however he’s just generally a quiet guy.
What is Islam in a nutshell? I want to know more about what he believes in and why. I feel very ignorant to the religion and I don’t want to be. My family and I will be visiting her country and staying with her parents for a few days so we can meet them, and a few months later both my brother and his wife will be coming to my country and living in my parents basement until they can afford a home. I will likely be living in their home. I would also like to know how to make her feel at home and comfortable, as my family are non-religious people. I would also like to know, is there anything I should know before I visit with her family? As I feel like they are very passionate about their religion and I think quite strict, and I don’t want to do anything that would offend them. I want them to respect me as we are now family.
