Netflix continues to give people stuck at home a ton of new and original content to stream. Netflix in May 2020 will have, among other things, the return of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in a new interactive special. It will also see Steve Carell return to TV comedy with Space Force. A alternate history of the movie business is the subject of the new series Hollywood, and much more. Here’s a look at a few of the highlights from Netflix in May 2020, followed by the full lists of what’s coming and what’s leaving the streaming service this month.

Hollywood (May 1)
American Horror Story and Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy brings us this series that takes a look at post World War II Hollywood. However, this isn’t the movie history you might know. This is an alternate timeline where straight white men were not the main public face of the film industry. This version brings us a woman as the head of a film studio, a black man as a screenwriter, and an openly gay man as a major box office star. This alternate history is supposed to make us think about these themes of class, race and orientation in the real present day.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt vs The Reverend (May 12)
Kimmy Schmidt is back! Elle Kemper returns as the overly-positive woman who survived living inside a doomsday bunker for over a decade in this one-shot special to Netflix’s hit comedy series. That would be enough for fans, but this special is also interactive. Yes, just like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the viewer will be asked to make choices in the special that will affect the storyline. Kimmy has a lot of things to keep up with in this special, including marrying a prince (played by Daniel Radcliffe). However, she decides to go on a quest when she finds out that the Reverend (Jon Hamm) that put her in that bunker has another one filled with unsuspecting girls. Can Kimmy find and rescue them? You will have to make the decisions to help her on her quest.
Space Force (May 29)
After returning to TV in 2019 with the drama The Morning Show on Apple TV Plus, Steve Carell is back doing a workforce-based comedy series. This series was created by Carell and Greg Daniels, who was the main force (no pum intended) for the US version of The Office, which also stars Carell. His character in this series, US Air Force General Mark R. Naird, gets picked to run the newest military branch, the Space Force. John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, and Lisa Kudrow also start in this first season.
