8fit

Price: Free / $19.99 per month / $60.00 per year

8fit is one of the better all-around personal trainer apps. It combines a lot of things into a single experience, including exercise regimens, dietary suggestions, various workout schedules, and a lot more. The app contains about 400 healthy recipe ideas along with 350 exercise tutorials. Additionally, it creates workout and food goals for your fitness level and needs. The only downside is the surprisingly expensive monthly premiums. If you do go for the premium route, we recommend a year up front. It’s literally a quarter of the price.

BestFit

Price: Free / $6.99 per month / $47.88 per year

BestFit probably isn’t the best of the personal trainer apps, but it’s still pretty decent. The app designs your entire workout plan from a few pieces of information from you. It focuses on efficient gym training and motivates you with a variety of challenges to push yourself. You get the first three workouts for free. You can choose the premium or free version from there.

BodBot

Price: Free / $9.99 per month / $59.99 per year

Bodbot might be one of the most accurate representations of a personal trainer. You open the app, tell is about yourself, and the AI schedules an entire workout regimen for you. The app comes complete with support for Google Fit along with Fitbit and it’ll even set reminders for you. It also tunes and tweaks your sessions so you don’t hurt yourself or burn out too quickly. Strangely, despite the number of features, the app never feels too complicated. Like most, its monthly prices feel too expensive while its yearly prices are a little better.

Fitness22

Price: Free / $4.99 per 3 months / $7.99 per year / $9.99 once

Fitness22 is another decent personal trainer app. However, it presents itself as a normal workout app. There are a bunch of exercises and workouts for various purposes. For instance, you can go for fat loss or muscle building. You’re also responsible for creating your own workout regimens. That’s a good thing if you like to manage these sorts of things yourself. There’s a bit of a learning curve for beginners, though. The app is also way cheaper than most of its competitors.

FitNotes

Price: Free / $4.99

FitNotes is an excellent fitness app. It works best for those who like to keep track of their own fitness. It works basically like a gym log. You input your activity, reps, weight, etc and track it over time. You then change your workouts when needed to adjust. The app includes a workout database for quick reference, the ability to build exercise routines, and even a backup and restore function. The premium version is a single $4.99 purchase but the free version works well too. It’s one of the best DIY personal trainer apps.

Fitvate

Price: Free / $8.49 per 3 months / $13.99 per 6 months / $25.99 once

Fitvate isn’t the most popular personal trainer app, but it’s pretty decent. It features a responsive design, a simple layout, and plenty of stuff to do. Some of the features include over 300 exercises, a variety of workout settings for most experience levels, and more. It focuses on working every muscle in the body rather than repetitively working out the same stuff. You also get challenges, health tips, bodybuilding plans, and fat loss plans. You can go with the subscription method or pay a single $25.99 fee for lifetime use.

Leap Fitness

Price: Free / $9.99 per month

Leap Fitness is a home workout app. We like this one because it requires no gym whatsoever and every exercise is replicated using simple stuff from around your house. It has basic stuff most muscle groups along with training regimens and workout routines for most fitness levels. Additionally, it has a variety of warm-up exercises and it records your training automatically. You can also update your regimens as necessary to increase or lay off the intensity.

JEFIT Workout Plans

Price: Free / $6.99 per month / $39.99 per year

JEFIT is one of the better personal trainer apps. It has a bunch of tools for individuals looking for a workout plan. However, there are also tools for personal trainers as well. That makes JEFIT a legit choice for both sides of the fence. The app includes over 1,300 exercises, a web interface, various challenges, a social media element, and various tools such as interval timers, a body measurements log, and a schedule planner. It’s quite powerful, even for its price tag.

Progression Workout Tracker

Price: Free / $4.99-$9.99

Progression Workout Tracker is a super simple personal trainer app. It actually looks and acts a bit more like a calendar app than a workout app. However, it’s quite useful. Some of the app features include Google Drive support, a light hand in fitness tracking, and a super easy UI. Basically, the app doesn’t tell you what to do or how to do it. You construct your regimen in the app and it simply notifies you and helps you keep track. It has a single $4.99 price tag with an optional $9.99 donation price. Like FitNotes, it’s excellent for those who like to take matters into their own hands.

Training by Runtastic

Price: Free / $9.99 per month / $39.99 per 6 months

Training by Runtastic is one of a few decent apps from Runtastic. The others include Running by Runtastic and Runtastic Steps. The apps carry the ADIDAS label, but you don’t need any ADIDAS gear to use it. Anyway, the app has a variety of workout routines for various parts of your body and also for cardio. You simply select the workout and do it. Some of the workouts are free and some require the subscription. It’s otherwise an easier app to use. There is also integration with Google Fit, Wear OS, and a few other services. It’s one of the better personal trainer apps.
