My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics Eye Dared You So Metallic Eyeliner 04 Blue Moon:
Beginning the review by describing the packaging of the liner, Sugar Cosmetics Eye Dared You So Metallic Eyeliner 03 Copper Gauntlet comes housed in a quirky cardboard packaging with the signature Sugar Cosmetics graphics design and prints. The graphical design looks very attractive and colourful and renders a good value to the product, packaging wise. The eyeliner comes housed in a slender, plastic bottle with a matte finish and it closes with a long, sleek cap. Though the bottle is long, the tube with the eyeliner is very tiny and the long size of the bottle is due to the long cap. The cap is designed perfectly to fit between the fingers for smooth and perfect application. It comes with a long handle and also has a sharp tip which helps you achieve clean and precise application.
The bristles of the brush are soft, long and precise and you can apply perfect lines – be it thin, thick or winged. The price though is a little high considering the quantity, but the quality justifies the price. All the product details are written on the body of the outer cardboard packaging itself. Overall, the packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.
Shade: Sugar Cosmetics Eye Dared You So Metallic Eyeliner 04 Blue Moon is a vibrant, royal blue liner which is the star shade from this range of liners. If you are eyeing a metallic blue eyeliner for long, this can be your pick. This is my most favorite shade from this range and can be a perfect liner to wear to parties. It has a hint of glossy sheen to it which I really love. If you want to pick just one shade from this Sugar Eye Dared You range, you can surely pick Sugar Cosmetics Eye Dared You So Metallic Eyeliner 04 Blue Moon.
Pigmentation: The liner is highly pigmented, only one swipe is sufficient to draw a thin line; however, you can apply 2-3 swipes for building a thicker liner on the eyelids. You would not have to apply pressure for drawing lines on your eyes. The formula is really great and the color shows up well on the eyes. The formula is super easy to apply and the strokes are neat.
Texture and Finish: True to the product description, the eyeliner gives a beautiful metallic finish upon application. It gives a very fresh look to the eyes and it seems that the eyeliner gives a healthy sheen even upon drying. There is no gritty feeling during application. It dries up in a few minutes and after that, it is totally smudge proof. Avoid moving your eyelids too much until the liner dries, otherwise the color would spread over to your crease. This is a completely transfer-proof eyeliner once it sets and feels very comfortable on the eyes. It does not irritate or sting your eyes. These liners are waterproof and they do not peel off after some time.
The best part about this liner is that it is so versatile. It can be used in so many ways. You can draw thin lines for normal looks, winged lines for extra glam look or graphic lines for bold looks as per your needs. Since my eyes are quite sensitive, I have some trouble applying it on the waterline, otherwise it just works fine.
The staying power of this eyeliner is pretty good. It stays for about 6-7 hours on the upper lash line without smudging or transferring. However, as time passes away, the sheen reduces, but it doesn’t flake off unless you rub off the applied area vigorously. Since my eyes get watery, I do not apply it on my lower lash line, but I can definitely say that it is a long-wearing eyeliner. Those who have oily lids, it is advisable to prime your lids with a loose powder or an eye primer for oil absorption and to increase the longevity of the liner. This liner comes off completely with any normal makeup remover.
Summing up, I feel this is a great range to experiment if you have metallic eyeliners. These liners perform decently and add a fun element to the bling game. The formula of these liners is cruelty and paraben free. It is definitely worth giving a try but surely not a must-have from Sugar. The not so affordable price tag is a sure turn down for makeup lovers; however, it is a great one-time purchase for me.
