This is a good, simple, lightweight option for those who only need something basic. The premium version removes ads, but otherwise both free and premium versions work about the same way.
Google Translate is probably your best option for stuff like this. It translates between over 100 languages online and over 50 languages offline (typing only). That's more than most. Additionally, the app supports live conversation translation, a camera mode to translate stuff like signs or menus, and more. It works for phrases or single words. You can also practice your handwriting here. The app is free and it should work for most folks.
Persian Dictionary is actually a translation dictionary. It works between English and Persian and back again. It's not much to look at. However, the UI is easy to use. Some other features include offline support, web searches, auto suggestions, pronunciations, synonyms and antonyms, some word games, and a backup and restore option. Most of those do exactly what you expect them to do. This is another cheap, lightweight option that only works with Persian (Farsi) and English. It's also entirely free with no in-app purchases. However, this provides a second, lighter option for those that want to go that route. The app features translation between English and Persian (Farsi) and back again. Simply Learn Persian is an adequate phrasebook app for Persian (Farsi). The free version contains over 300 words and phrases. The premium version includes more. Some other features include audio pronunciations and audio controls to slow down the pronunciation so you can get it just right. You also get some language learning features, a quick search function, and more. Every translation is recorded by a native Persian speaker. The pro version is the way to go. We don't think 300 words and phrases are enough for anything other than testing the app.
Persian (Farsi) learning apps is another way to get what you need. Most of those apps include the basic stuff like a dictionary, a translation service, a phrasebook, and other stuff. Of course, with a language learning app, you also get various lessons, memorization techniques, and stuff like that. It may be in your best interests to just go the extra mile and start learning the language. These apps tend to be much more complex and expensive, but they also contain much more content.
